In 2020, 45 Degrés Nord is one of the only promoters to have presented races and developed safety protocols since the start of the pandemic. We had the opportunity to present 4 races in complete safety. This will continue into the next year starting with the SUB-ZERO race, which will take place on March 27, 2021.

We will work hard to provide you with a safe place. Our security measures were created following government guidelines and recommendations. In addition, we have added additional procedures to ensure the protection of all participants as well as our staff. The goal is to make the most of the race day while following the instructions for everyone's safety.

Protocols have been implemented to reduce physical interaction between staff, runners and spectators throughout the venue from the initial finish, as well as parking, registration, race route. obstacle course, festival area, restrooms and food service.

1- CHECKING THE TEMPERATURE AND HEALTH EXAMINATION

In addition, due to a positive test or a failure of health screening (in an official screening center), the persons in question will not have access to the site. Each person arriving at the site will have to complete a declaration when registering for the race indicating that they are not currently infected with COVID-19, that they have not recently been in contact with a person presenting one of the symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days and she is not exhibiting any of the following symptoms:

2- MEASURES TAKEN IN PLACE ON THE DAY OF THE RACE

The capacity of the 45 Degrees North site will be limited to 50% of the standard capacity, according to provincial and federal guidelines. No worries, we have over 6 million square feet and can handle any size run.

Start times will be every 15 minutes with a limited number of riders per wave. All participants will be distributed on the start line. Each participant, on the starting line, will have a designated place with a distance of 2 meters between each.

Our staff will clean and disinfect all customer contact points throughout the site at regular intervals.

3- ÉQUIPEMENTS DE PROTECTION ET DISTANCE SOCIALE

PERSONNEL et BÉNÉVOLES: Les employés et bénévoles du 45 Degrés Nord porteront un masque facial en tout temps. Des masques réutilisables de marque seront disponibles à l'achat sur place!

COUREUR(EUSE)S et SPECTATEURS: Toute personne entrant sur le site devra suivre les directives provinciales et/ou fédérales pour les couvre-visages. Jusqu'à nouvel ordre, nous allons demander à tout le monde sur place de porter un couvre-visage (masque) à tous les endroits incluant le parcours. Ceci est essenciel car ce n'est pas toujours possible de garder une distance de plus de 2 mètres entre vous et un autre coureur. Des masques réutilisables de marque seront disponibles à l'achat sur place!

Une distance d'au moins 2 mètres (6 pieds) doit être maintenue entre vous et tout autres personnes en tout temps. Tous les participants, spectateurs, personnels et bénévoles doivent respecter ce règlement pour favoriser la distanciation sociale. Des files d'attente, des clôtures et de la signalisation sont déjà mises en place pour aider à faire respecter cette mesure et la distanciation sociale sera appliquée sur tout le site. La distanciation sociale devra être respectée dans les zones suivantes:

  • Parking et arrivée sur place

  • Zone d'inscription

  • Toilettes, stations d'eau

  • Ligne de départ, ligne d'arrivée et obstacles

  • Magasin de marchandises et restaurant

4- MONITOR YOUR HEALTH STATUS BEFORE THE RACE

All participants, staff, volunteers and spectators must monitor their health 14 days before race day. This is important to check if you have symptoms that could indicate if you have COVID-19. Anyone exhibiting any of the following symptoms within 14 days of the race should not attend or even show up at the venue. Here are the main symptoms:

  • Shortness of breath

  • Difficult breathing

  • Fever or chills

  • Runny nose or congestion

  • Muscle pain

  • Sore throat

  • Loss of taste or smell

  • Vomiting / Diarrhea


It is imperative that any participant, staff, volunteer or spectator who has been in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or who exhibits any of the above symptoms in the last 14 days prior to the race should not participate or not even show up for the race. If you cannot make it to the race, notify us by email and we can then transfer your ticket to another race day.

According to government guidelines, anyone considered to be at high risk, or who lives with a person at high risk, is encouraged not to attend the race. Here are the main people at high risk, but not limited to:

  • Anyone over 65;

  • Anyone with chronic lung disease, severe heart disease and / or moderate to severe asthma;

  • People who are immunosuppressed or who have undergone or are undergoing cancer treatment, organ or bone marrow transplants;

  • People with immune deficiencies, including HIV or AIDS;

  • Anyone who has a prolonged use of corticosteroids;

  • People who smoke;

  • People of all ages with Class III or severe obesity;

  • Anyone diagnosed with any of the following underlying conditions, including diabetes, liver disease, chronic kidney disease, or someone on dialysis.
